A short but sweet stay at Hotel Chelsea, Cologne

By Lord Acuña • 10 Aug 2016 • 5-min read

Hotel Chelsea, Cologne

Hotel Chelsea in Cologne features artworks in the rooms from artists who have stayed with them.

For my trip to Cologne, I stayed with Hotel Chelsea, “the hotel different”. Just a walking distance from either Rudolfplatz or Moltkestraße light rail stations, this hotel is located near the city center.

The entrance to the hotel is at the side.

They have 39 rooms, including 4 suites, and the rooms are equipped with the necessary facilities. And apparently, the artworks inside the rooms are from artists who have lodged at the hotel. Amazing!

Comfortable and clean bed

They assigned me to a French Room (Single) on the 4th floor. The room had no aircon which I didn’t mind because you can just keep the window open for a natural breeze. But do take note that there are rooms that have. There was a table that you can use if you need to work on your laptop. Internet is stable, even inside the room. On the right side of the table, there’s a mini fridge, but items in it are not free.

The bed size was perfect, not too small and not too huge. They had prepared a pack of gummy bears on top of my pillow that I absolutely loved. Little trivia: Did you know that gummy bears originated in Germany? 🙂 Also, didn’t get to use them but the room had a flat TV and a closet with hangers and safety box.

I wonder whose artwork is this one?

The Bathroom / Toilet

The bathroom was clean and had towels, a blower, slippers and tissues. I really liked the slippers with their logo on it! The mirror was a bit small for me though, but everything else was good.

Café Central

There was no breakfast buffet, but in front of the hotel is Café Central. It’s a coffee shop, bar and restaurant where you can get items at reasonable prices. It’s perfect if you don’t feel like going out of the hotel or need a quick meal or drink.

It was a short & sweet stay, and I would like to give Andrea a shout out for assisting! Danke schön Hotel Chelsea!
