Mondrian Singapore Duxton Review: A Stylish Stay in the Heart of Chinatown

By Lord Acuña • 06 Aug 2026 • 5-min read

Mondrian Singapore Duxton sustainability | Our Staycation at Mondrian Singapore Duxton

Here's our staycation experience at Mondrian Singapore Duxton, the first Mondrian hotel in Southeast Asia.

Mondrian Singapore Duxton is a 5-star luxury hotel located on Duxton Hill in Singapore's Chinatown neighbourhood. Opened in 2023, it is the first Mondrian hotel in Southeast Asia. It joins the brand's portfolio of lifestyle hotels in destinations such as Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Seoul, and other cities around the world. The hotel features 302 chic, modern rooms, a stunning rooftop pool with city views, and several restaurants and bars.

I joined my friend Criselda for a staycation here to celebrate her birthday. It was our first time staying at a Mondrian property, so we were both excited to see what the hotel had to offer.

Checking In

Mondrian Singapore KAWS WHAT PARTY Sculpture

The giant KAWS: WHAT PARTY sculpture at Mondrian Singapore Duxton.

Arriving at the hotel grounds, we were greeted by a towering KAWS: WHAT PARTY sculpture featuring the artist's CHUM character. Standing six metres tall, this bronze artwork is one of the hotel's defining features and makes a striking first impression. From there, we took the lift to the main lobby on the third floor to collect our room keys.

After a smooth check-in, we made our way to the fifth floor, where our room was. As we walked towards the lift, we passed Deep Magenta Mirrored, a striking artwork by Ian Davenport. Mounted on an aluminium panel, the large-scale piece consists of vibrant streams of acrylic paint flowing from the top and pooling onto the floor. It forms part of the hotel's curated art collection, which showcases works by both local and international artists.

Our Signature Room

The Signature Room combines modern comfort with subtle design touches inspired by Singapore. Green accents, arched walkways, and locally sourced materials give the space a distinctive character without feeling overdone. Our room featured plush twin beds, although a king bed is also available if you prefer.

The room also has a comfortable seating area that's ideal for relaxing, getting some work done, or enjoying a drink. Completing the space is an ensuite bathroom with a spacious rain shower, grab bars, and a handheld showerhead. Overall, it's a chic yet compact room that offers a quiet retreat from the bustle of Chinatown.

Bottega di Carna

Bottega di Carna breakfast

Breakfast is served daily from 07:00 to 10:30 at Bottega di Carna, Mondrian Singapore Duxton's all-day dining restaurant. Located on the third floor, it offers a semi-buffet breakfast, combining a continental buffet spread with a curated à la carte menu of freshly prepared dishes. Breakfast was included in our stay, but if your booking doesn't, you can add it for SGD 38++ per person per day.

At night, we also had a few drinks at The Last Sip, the bar within Bottega di Carna. Open from 22:00 until late, it is inspired by Italy's love for lingering conversations and spontaneous moments. The bar serves creative cocktails alongside curated digestifs and indulgent late-night bites.

Rooftop Infinity Pool at Canyon Club

Of course, we couldn't miss the rooftop infinity pool at Canyon Club on the 12th floor. The pool itself is open daily from 07:00 to 23:00 for all hotel guests. But if you're not staying at the hotel, you can only access the pool from 13:30 onwards, when Canyon Club opens to the public.

Inspired by 1970s Hollywood pool culture, Canyon Club draws inspiration from the iconic Skybar at the original Mondrian Los Angeles. By day, it's a laid-back space for swimming and relaxing. At night, Singapore's glittering city skyline provides the perfect backdrop for drinks, music, and a livelier atmosphere.

Verdict

Mondrian Singapore Duxton did not disappoint with its chic design. Everything felt premium, from the hotel grounds to our room and all the way up to the rooftop. The only minor drawback was that our room felt a little too compact. The hotel is also in an excellent location, with restaurants and bars within easy reach. And of course, it's also the perfect opportunity to explore the bustling Chinatown neighbourhood while you're in the area.

If you appreciate architecture, interiors, and art as much as the stay itself, I highly recommend checking out Mondrian Singapore Duxton.
