A review of our stay at Bacau Bay Resort Coron, a 4-star eco-luxury resort and a tranquil hideaway in Coron, Palawan.
On my first-ever trip to Palawan, I invited my sister to join me in Coron, where we decided to stay at Bacau Bay Resort Coron. I flew in from Singapore via Clark, Pampanga, before continuing together to Coron with Sunlight Air. A little over an hour later, we landed at Busuanga Airport in northern Palawan. A driver arranged by the hotel picked us up, and after a 30-minute drive, we finally arrived at the resort.

Checking In
Warm smiles greeted us upon arrival at the property, followed by a refreshing welcome drink. Right away, I could feel the laid-back atmosphere of the resort. We were then escorted to our room, which was rather rustic and homely. Inside, a small plate of peanut brittle was waiting for us as an additional welcome gift.
Our Deluxe Room

The deluxe room was cosy, complete with an ensuite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the garden. There were two queen beds and a sofa, making it more than comfortable for both my sister and me. Stepping out onto the balcony in the afternoon, the sounds of birds and insects echoed through the space, providing a welcome break from the noise of bustling cities.
The Resort’s Private Pier

One of Bacau Bay Resort Coron’s most outstanding features is its private pier. From here, guests can be picked up and dropped off directly for island-hopping tours, although standard pick-up arrangements are also available if preferred. After a full day of exploring Coron, it’s especially convenient to simply walk a few steps back to your room. In the afternoon, you can also enjoy beautiful sunsets with unparalleled views of Coron’s natural seaside beauty.

More Amenities

The day after we arrived, I checked out the gym and managed to work out just before lunch. Bacau Bay Resort Coron also features a decent-sized swimming pool and event spaces. The resort has its own spa, Alon, offering a range of calming massage treatments. Even on days when you skip island tours, there are still plenty of amenities to enjoy within the property.
Verdict

Bacau Bay Resort Coron is ideal for travellers looking to escape the chaos of big cities. At the same time, the hotel’s convenient location makes it easy to join island-hopping tours. While I wasn’t fully in love with our room, the resort seems less about luxury showmanship and more about offering a calm, peaceful retreat. I would still love to come back though to try some cocktails in the hammocks by the pier next time!
