Checking In
I arrived in Auckland late in the evening after a flight from Wellington. Understandably, I was feeling a little tired. But thanks to the gentleman at the front desk, the check-in process was quick and seamless. To my surprise, I also received a complimentary upgrade! After confirming my details, I was handed the key to my room on the 36th floor, and I finally got to rest after a long day.
My Sky Tower View Room

For six nights, I stayed in the Super King Bed Sky Tower View room. A personalised welcome message was displayed on the large LCD TV when I arrived. The bed looked inviting, while the crisp white sheets stood out against the striking colour of the carpet and the accent wall. The marble bathroom is perhaps my favourite. It’s stylish and modern, complete with an eco-conscious rain shower and sustainable Antipodes amenities.

When I woke up the next day, the room was flooded with natural light as I opened the curtains. Then the stunning city vista, dominated by the iconic Sky Tower, greeted me through the huge window. Starting each day like this quickly became one of my favourite parts of the stay.
Fitness Centre

When travelling, it’s easy to neglect your fitness routine. I personally like to stay on top of mine, so it’s always a bonus when my hotel has its own gym. I managed to squeeze in a workout midway through my stay at their state-of-the-art fitness centre. The equipment didn’t disappoint, and I left feeling great after an awesome session.
Italian Trattoria
Feeling hungry? The hotel’s got you covered! Mozzarella & Co. on the ground level serves authentic Italian cuisine from breakfast through to dinner. From 06:30, the breakfast buffet includes continental favourites, eggs your way, and barista-made coffee. Lunch and dinner feature artisan-fired pizzas and classic pasta dishes, showcasing European flavours alongside locally sourced seasonal produce.
New Zealand’s Highest Hotel Rooftop Bar

If you want to take things to the next level, quite literally, check out Bar Albert on the 38th floor of voco Auckland City Centre. The glamorous Art Deco-inspired bar features moody interiors and a wide selection of single-batch spirits. Guests can choose to sit inside or out on the open-air terrace. With uninterrupted views over the Auckland city skyline, it’s a wonderful place to unwind with a cocktail in hand.
Verdict
voco Auckland City Centre was a great base for exploring Auckland. Many of the city’s top attractions, cafés, restaurants, and shopping areas are within walking distance. While it’s on the pricier side, the convenient location can save you both time and transport costs. On top of that, the room and service were top-notch, so you definitely get bang for your buck.
Would I recommend a stay at this hotel? Yes – but you’d better prepare for a pretty hefty price tag, especially if you’re staying for six nights like I did!
