Japan is a top travel destination for many Filipinos. Here's an easy guide on how to apply for a single-entry eVISA.
If you are a Philippine passport holder, you would need a visa to enter Japan, one of the top travel destinations in Asia. Thankfully, the Japan eVISA application is a very easy one.
So if you’re looking for a quick guide, then you’ve come to the right place. Soon enough you’ll be packing your stuff to jet off to the Land of the Rising Sun!
Japan Tourism Short-term Visa
Please note that this guide is specifically for single-entry eVISA applications.
– All eVISAs issued will be single-entry.
– Your stay in Japan must not exceed 90 days.
– All other types of visa (i.e. multiple-entry, business, domestic helper, long-term stay or spouse of Japanese) have to be submitted physically at the Embassy of Japan.
Japan eVISA: List of Requirements
1. Valid passport – Must be valid for at least 6 months on the date of entry.
2. Colour photo – Should have a light background, and taken within the last 6 months.
3. Screenshot of SGWorkPass mobile app – Showing your latest employment pass information, scanned within 5 days from application date.
4. Certificate of Employment or Business Registration Profile from ACRA (for business owners)
5. Income Tax Notice or Bank Statements / Passbook
6. Flight bookings to and from Japan
7. Accommodation booking(s)
8. Itinerary – Download this file and enter the details of your daily activities.
Japan eVISA: Online Submission
Once you have prepared all of the needed documents, sign up for an account on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan website. Click the New registration button to start your application. Enter the necessary details as accurately as possible, and upload your documents accordingly.
In case of incomplete documents, the processing of your application may slow down, or worse, the Embassy may cancel it without processing.
Japan eVISA: Fee
Fortunately, getting a Japan tourism visa is FREE for Filipinos!
Japan eVISA: Waiting Time
After about 5 days, I got an e-mail notification that my eVISA has been issued. But the Japanese embassy advises to submit your application at least 2 months in advance, especially during peak season. It can be up to 4-8 weeks processing time, so just keep that in mind when planning your trip!
