Before the Jump
Pick-up is at 08:30, with the meeting point at the base of the Sky Tower in central Auckland. Be punctual to avoid any delays. From there, it’s a 45-60 minute drive to Skydive Auckland in the northwest. All participants must complete an online waiver, so be sure to fill it out before arriving on site.
Getting Ready for Our Turn
Once we arrived, the staff gathered everyone for a mandatory safety briefing. They also walked us through the available photo and video packages, which you can add on top of your booking. While waiting for the plane to arrive, we changed into proper jump gear. If you opt for the video package, there will be a short interview before you board the plane – capturing those last few moments before the big jump.
The Big Event: Tandem Skydiving
As the plane ascended through the clouds, the tension slowly built – but surprisingly, I stayed calm. Probably because it was a tandem skydive, meaning a highly trained professional jumped with me. Soon enough, I was at the plane’s open door. Strong wind blasted my face, and in that moment, I knew there was no turning back. I had chosen the easiest option at 13,000 feet, which, honestly, was already more than enough to get my heart racing.
Then – we jumped! Everything happened incredibly fast. I made a conscious effort to keep my eyes open to take in the spectacular views of Auckland below. The instructor handled the navigation and captured the entire experience on camera. As we prepared for landing, he told me to straighten my legs and land on my butt, instead of my feet, to avoid any knee injuries. The landing was smooth, and after braving 45 seconds of freefall, I felt an amazing rush of accomplishment.

Post-jump

That’s a wrap!
There were five of us in our batch. We hung around until everyone finished, shared our experiences, and snapped a few more photos. Once the group was complete, we headed back to downtown Auckland. If you opted for the video package, Skydive Auckland will edit it, add music, and send it to you within an hour or two.
