On my flight back home, I took Singapore Airlines Business Class and here is an honest review of my experience.
One of the many perks of working in Singapore is its proximity to my home country, the Philippines. With less than four hours of travel time, I can be back home in a heartbeat. While I have taken countless budget-friendly flights over the years, I thought I would finally try out Business Class on Singapore Airlines to see exactly what the hype is all about.

Singapore Airlines Business Class: Pre-flight Experience
Faster check-in and bag drop
Checking in for a Business Class flight is significantly faster than usual. This is thanks to the dedicated, shorter check-in lines and priority baggage handling. You can also complete the check-in process via the SIA mobile app, which means you basically only need to drop your luggage at the counter. The start of my trip was entirely stress-free and remarkably efficient.
Access to SilverKris Lounge

With a Business Class ticket, you gain access to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge, a calm and comfortable space to unwind before departure. The lounge offers premium amenities such as refreshing showers, plush seating, and private pods for those who need some quiet time. There are also plenty of universal power outlets and a fast Wi-Fi connection — ideal for charging devices or catching up on work.
Food and drinks are equally impressive, with a generous buffet featuring pastries, noodles, sandwiches, sushi rolls, and even ice cream for dessert. Beverage options include sparkling water, coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks, and alcohol. Having access to these comforts makes the pre-flight wait far more enjoyable.
Priority boarding
After I left the lounge, I decided to browse some duty-free perfumes to kill a bit of time. I lost track of the hour and didn’t realise it was already time for me to board the aircraft. Thankfully, a Business Class ticket comes with priority boarding as a standard feature. Even though I arrived late to the gate, I bypassed the long queues and still managed to get on the plane quickly.
Singapore Airlines Business Class: A comfortable journey
As soon as I reached my seat, I was welcomed with a drink and opted for a juice to start light. Hot towels were then distributed throughout the cabin, a thoughtful touch Singapore Airlines extends to all passengers, not just those in Business Class.
Cabin layout and seat features
The Business Class seats on the Boeing 787-10 feature a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring that every passenger has direct aisle access. Travelling with your partner or family? The middle seats are ideal. But as I was flying solo, I opted for a side seat to enjoy more privacy.
Once I stowed my bag in the overhead compartment, I explored the seat’s clever storage. There’s a handy cubby containing a bottle of water and noise-cancelling headphones, along with multiple ports for charging devices, with a door that needs to be closed during take-off and landing.
Shortly after the in-flight safety video, we were ready to fly. The Business Class seat felt noticeably more spacious, with ample legroom for taller travellers like myself. It fully reclines into a bed, making it easy to rest comfortably during the flight. A retractable wall on the side adds extra privacy and safety while sleeping.
The “Fine Dining” experience

From the larger dining table to the plated courses, the Business Class meal service felt like a genuine fine dining at 35,000 feet. It began with a fresh chicken salad appetiser, warm bread, and a glass of rosé to elevate the experience further. For the main course, which I pre-ordered through the SIA app a few days before departure, I chose the char-grilled Australian Black Angus beef fillet with veal jus, served with roasted potatoes, beans, and portobello mushrooms. This was easily the highlight of the meal. Dessert was a fresh fruit platter and a Milo Dinosaur cake, though I couldn’t finish the cake since it was a little too sweet for me.
Service and amenities
Staying connected was easy with the fast and reliable onboard Wi-Fi. When I felt like switching off, there was also a solid selection of movies to choose from, all playing on a large screen. Mid-flight, I asked about the amenity kit but found out it’s only provided on flights longer than six hours. Instead, the crew offered me a pair of socks, which kept my feet warm throughout the flight. The lavatories were also well stocked with Penhaligon’s toiletries, including antibacterial hand wash and facial mist.
Final Verdict: Singapore Airlines lived up to its reputation
The service was impeccable from start to finish, and I was impressed by the little details throughout the flight. From the meals to the attentive crew and overall comfort, I truly felt I got the best value for my money. Singapore Airlines certainly lived up to its reputation, making the journey home to Manila just as memorable as the holiday itself.
