Island hopping in Bohol: Fun sea activities that you must try

Island hopping in Bohol: Fun sea activities that you must try | Fun water activities in Bohol, Philippines

Ready to get wet? Well, hop on the boat, set out to the sea, and try these fun water activities in Bohol.

A visit to Bohol wouldn’t be complete if you don’t check out the Chocolate Hills and see the tarsiers. But if you’re in the Philippines in general, water activities are definitely must-tries as well.

For our second day, we decided to do an island hopping tour. By 07:00 AM, we have already set out to the sea and the ride was about an hour. First stop: Balicasag Island. In addition to its crystal clear waters, this island has rich marine biodiversity so it’s a great place for snorkelling. If you’re a lover of sea creatures, then this guide is for you!

Fun water activities in Bohol, Philippines

1. Go dolphin watching

Before even reaching our destination, we already passed by a zone where dolphins would usually be spotted. Watching these cute and intelligent bottlenose and spinner dolphins is a mesmerizing encounter, especially for kids travelling with you.

2. Feed the fishes

Feel like Princess Ariel of The Little Mermaid and get up close to fishes with this activity. Get ready with crackers in your hand, be patient and in no time they will come flocking to you! Just be careful with feeding the slightly bigger ones, but overall this activity should be safe.

3. Swim with large turtles

Go swimming with the friendly resident sea turtles

Located on the southwest side of Balicasag Island, Turtle Point, as its name suggests, is where you will get a chance to swim alongside large sea turtles. Be gentle as you go towards their way, and keep in mind to not touch them or any sea creature for that matter.

4. Bonus: Eat some seafood

Interesting experience at the Virgin Island sandbar

Our next stop was Virgin Island where we got to try abalone and sea urchin from the sandbar. Unfortunately though, due to recent events, the makeshift stalls have been removed and the vendors are no longer allowed to return. Nevertheless, there’s plenty of other places in Bohol where you can eat seafood.

Now, which of these island hopping activities are you keen to try?
